OpenAI in Google Cloud: governing model choice for Odoo Enterprise
On 21 October 2026, OpenAI announced that its frontier models and Codex agentic workflows will come to Google Cloud Model Garden. For AI Belgium, AI France, Odoo Belgium, Odoo France and Odoo Enterprise, the issue is not only a wider catalogue: control over identities, data, costs and business actions must remain explicit.
1. What was announced
OpenAI and Google Cloud plan to offer OpenAI models in Model Garden, with purchases through Google Cloud Marketplace and the option to draw down GCP spending commitments. OpenAI also says its models will soon be available in Google Antigravity and Gemini Agent. General availability is planned for the coming weeks, so this is not an assurance that every region or contract can enable the capability immediately.
2. Model choice becomes an architecture decision
One Google Cloud environment may now bring together more models and tools. That flexibility can help assign a model to a specific task—document summarisation, development assistance, or draft preparation—without conflating quality, cost and authority to act. It also increases the combinations that must be controlled: GCP project, calling identity, model, connector, storage, log, region and action recipient.
3. What it means for Odoo Belgium, Odoo France and Odoo Enterprise
For an agent connected to Odoo, a model should not receive generic ERP access. A robust integration separates reading from writing, applies least privilege by process, and retains exportable traces of the request, tool call, response and human approval. Marketplace purchasing may simplify procurement, but it does not by itself describe data residency, retention, subprocessors or service continuity.
4. Checks before industrialisation
Before deployment, teams should confirm the models actually available, regions, processing terms, logging rules and exit arrangements. They should then test the business process with representative data, a spend limit, a revocation mechanism and rollback. Provider choice is useful only where it remains technically and contractually reversible.
For Odoo Enterprise, start with a read-only flow using a dedicated identity, an identified source of truth and human approval before every write. Measure quality, cost and incidents before expanding scope.
