EU GPAI Code: scaling AI compliance operations

Article created on 9 March 2026 · Event analyzed: July 10, 2025 · Source: European Commission

The GPAI Code provides a structuring basis to move from "paper compliance" to executable, tooled, and verifiable compliance in daily operations.

1. Where companies lose time

Without a shared framework, each team interprets obligations differently: data, security, legal, business. This fragmentation slows projects and increases non-compliance risk. The GPAI Code provides a shared vocabulary and useful methodological direction.

2. Ce qu’il faut mettre en place rapidement

Three artifacts are priorities: inventory of models and dependencies, risk matrix by use case, and audit trail of decisions. These elements support compliance, service quality, and budget governance.

3. Expected outcome

Operational compliance shortens approval cycles, limits technical rework, and improves trust from internal and external stakeholders.
